Selection of Volunteers – Global Xchange Programme
Pattan Development Organisation in collaboration with British Council Pakistan and Voluntary Services Overseas is initiating the third Global Xchange Programme (GXP).
GXP builds active global citizens, committed to working for positive change. This programme works with 18-25 year olds from the UK and Pakistan giving young people the opportunity to live and work together in communities as volunteer on a six-month exchange, with 3 months in each country.
Each cross-culture team will be consisted upon nine volunteers (6 females and 3 males) and will be supported by two Programme Supervisors, one from Pakistan and one from the UK. The Pakistan group of volunteers along with their Programme Supervisors is responsible for developing the programme in the Pakistani host communities in Muzafargarh and Multan with their UK group of volunteers, for facilitating the implementation of the six-month programme in both phases.
The Volunteers will ideally be:
· A literate who can understand, speak and write English.
· He/she should have good communication skills of Urdu.
· He/she should be between the ages of 18 – 25 years.
· He/she should provide a written agreement for the parents to stay away from home for six months.
· He/she is willing to live within the communities (host homes) with very little civic amenities.
Interested candidates can apply in confidence along with copies of Computerised National Identity Card with two references, not related to them and one recent photograph. They can attach any academic qualifications records, if they would like to do so. The last date for receiving the application is Tuesday, 20 January 2009. The tests/interviews will be held in the week commencing 09 February, 2009, in Multan.
